Willow handbag basket with leather straps
This oval handbag basket is woven with a buff and steamed willow.
Buff willow has been through a boiling process during which the tannins in the bark dye it a tan colour and the bark is then removed. Steamed willow still has the bark on and has been steamed bringing out a chocolatey colour to the bark.
The leather used for the handles is a waxy 'pull up' veg-tanned leather from a well known tannery in Italy.
This handbag basket would be great used as a bag for everyday. It can fit an A5 notebook, water bottle etc. It could also be used
to take to the farmers market, for picnics, as a bottle basket for wine, foraging or harvesting your fruit and veg, to store knitting or a craft project or used as decorative storage in your home adding texture and warmth to your hallway, kitchen, bathroom or conservatory.
It measures approx H 26cm W 16cm D 30cm at the top. It tapers slightly so is approx W19cm D33cm at the base. The handles measure 38 cm tall.

Free local delivery is available for orders within the Lancaster area. Alternatively you are welcome to collect items from my Lancaster studio. I will contact you to arrange a convenient time and date for delivery/collection.
